WHAT IS LOWER BACK PAIN?

Lower back pain refers to the condition where you feel pain at the lumbar region of your back. Normally, it starts from mild discomfort that eventually develops into a sudden, sharp and persistent pain occurring below the waist.

Almost everyone is susceptible to lower back pain at some point during their life. With heavy physical labor, standing in one position for too long, or improper posture, anyone can experience this condition.

SYMPTOMS:

Lower back pain should be easily distinguished because as the name suggests, you would feel pain at the lower region of your back. The pain ranges from a dull discomfort to a heavy pressure to a stabbing and shooting sensation.

Other symptoms of lower back pain includes:

  • Pain that makes moving or standing up straight difficult
  • Acute pain that happens so sudden
  • Chronic pain that lasts more than 3 months

CAUSES:

The most common cause of lower back pain is muscle strain due to back injury, heavy physical activity, heavy weight lifting, bending or twisting with awkward positions, or sitting and standing for too long.

  • Osteomyelitis
  • Spinal tumors
